The Maine Association of Conservation Districts

is pleased to announce

$2,000 Scholarships

to the

University of Maine, Orono

The University of Maine at Orono will award up to THREE $2,000 scholarships to Envirothon Team Members.

  • ONE  scholarship will be awarded to a Team Member admitted to the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry & Agriculture , Fall 2010.
  • TWO scholarships will be awarded to a Team Member admitted to the School of Forest Resources, Fall 2010.

To be considered for these scholarship awards, the Envirothon Team Member must send the following information – postmarked by May 1, 2010 to:

  1. Copy of secondary school transcript

  2. Letter from Envirothon Team Advisor describing the applicant’s strongest qualities as a potential specialist in natural resources management and conservation. This letter must state that the student is, or will be, a member of an Envirothon team which the advisor is preparing for the 2010 Envirothon.

  3. A personal letter from the student – addressed to the MACD Envirothon Committee – of approximately 300 words describing the student’s interest in natural resource management and conservation.

  4. Letter of admission to the University of Maine Orono's College of Natural Sciences, Forestry & Agriculture for the Fall of 2010.

  5. Please mark on the cover letter which Scholarship you are applying for.

The Maine Association of Conservation Districts Education and & Envirothon Committee and a representative of UMaine will hopefully announce the scholarship recipients at the State Finals on May 27th at the Husson University in Bangor, Maine.
